Clark County Family Law Self-Help Center

Giving access to the Nevada laws related to family law matters; making available information about the nature of family law procedures; producing current self-help packets with instructions; making available information about legal resources in the community; providing classes for self-represented individuals. Free notary service and access to computers/typewriters available on a first-come, first-served basis. ($1 for every 10 sheets typed or printed.) The forms cost $3.00 if purchased at the Center and are free if downloaded from the website at http://www.clarkcountycourts.us/District_court/self_help_center.htm

The Self-Help Center has also started a program called Ask A Lawyer. This program is a partnership between the Self-Help Center, Clark County Legal Services, Nevada Legal Services and the William S. Boyd School of Law. Participants can receive 15 minute consultations with attorneys on Thursdays between 2:00 and 5:00 p.m. There is a limit on the number of consultations. Reservations are on a first-come first served basis and begin at 8:00am on Thursdays. The consultations are free.

Provides free assistance for the following issues: bankruptcy, child custody, children's rights, consumer fraud, divorce and other family law problems, disability law, guardianship, housing problems, immigration problems connected to domestic violence, special education issues, paternity, real estate, small claims, social security benefits, HIV/AIDS legal problems, domestic violence. Must meet low-income eligibility requirements.

Provides assistance for the following legal issues: government benefits, work related problems, housing problems, immigration, health care, and Indian law. In cooperation with other legal providers, Nevada Legal Services provides limited services in the following areas: private landlord/tenant, consumer law, family law and chapter 7 bankruptcy.
